
Call for applications Masterclass 2025 - IRMC
The IRMC in Tunis and the Institut Français d'Algérie are organizing a Masterclass from October 28 to November 7, 2025 in Tunis. The program is aimed at students enrolled in a Master 2 or Doctorate program at an Algerian university, in a humanities or social sciences discipline (anthropology, geography, history, political science, sociology, etc.).
The call for applications is open until August 26, 2025. Replies will be sent on September 10. 7 scholarships will be awarded.
1) Stock market benefits
The selected winners will benefit from the following conditions:
- A return ticket from Algiers to Tunis.
- A grant equivalent to 710 euros net per month
* The Institut de Recherche sur le Maghreb Contemporain (IRMC) boasts top-level local resources (French researchers and relations with bilingual Arabic/French Tunisian teacher-researchers). It also boasts a Humanities and Social Sciences (SHS) library that is very popular with the local academic community. Selected students will therefore be able to develop their research topic while consolidating their knowledge of SHS methodology.
2) Masterclass organization
The courses will be organized into 3 modules of 15 hours each. Methodological approaches will be based on examples of themes and fields specific to Algeria and Tunisia, and will draw on the work of doctoral students.
Module 1: Terminology and concepts based on major social science texts.
Module 2: Disciplines and their specificities: how to approach the same subject depending on the discipline?
Module 3: Construction of a research object and field practice (with examples from Algeria and Tunisia): Understanding archival research, documentary research; building a bibliography; approaching a fieldwork project; designing and building an interview; building a corpus.
* This session is part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Stora report to strengthen university cooperation, and complements the André Mandouze scholarship program.
3) How to apply
Candidates will be selected on the basis of an electronic application form, which must be sent electronically by August 26, 2025 to the following address: [email protected]
4) Documents to be supplied
- A CV of no more than one page;
- Photocopy of university registration ;
- A 3-page maximum description of the research project.
- The application form duly completed online and submitted with the application pack.
- Incomplete applications will not be considered.
