The MOPGA 2026 call for applications is open!
The annual MOPGA call for applications is financed by the MEAE in partnership with the MESR (climate and environmental sciences). It is a program of fellowships awarded to successful young researchers over a 12-month period starting in September 2026.
Each year, the MOPGA program welcomes young researchers wishing to carry out their research in France, to strengthen scientific contributions to the climate change issues raised by the International Conferences on Climate Change (COP).
Application deadline: December 12, 2025
CANDIDATE ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must:
- Hold a doctorate degree less than 5 years old at the time of application, i.e. have defended their thesis between December 2020 and December 2025 inclusive;
- Be of foreign nationality only (all nationalities are eligible except French);
Candidates must not have resided in France for more than 90 days between September 12, 2025 and December 12, 2025.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE GRANT
Grants are awarded for a period of 12 months.
Each grant includes (exclusively):
- a monthly allowance of €2,500;
- an installation allowance of €500;
- health cover: health insurance, civil liability and repatriation assistance (then supplementary health cover once you have joined the social security system).
SCHEDULE
December 12, 2025: Call for applications closes
May - June 2026: Notification of results
Between September and December 2026: Laureates arrive in France and begin their research stays in French establishments.
*Initiated in 2018, the Make Our Planet Great Again (MOPGA) initiative continues to mobilize the interest of the international scientific community. Recognized by French laboratories and research establishments, MOPGA is an emblematic scheme for postdoctoral mobility in France and one of the flagship fellowship programs of the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE).
